Police have advised that a 32-year-old woman, a 27-year-old man and a 35-year-old man were the people killed in a horrific two car Christmas Day crash in Alice Springs.
In a statement police said the crash happened in the suburb of Sadadeen on Spearwood Rd just before 8pm and led to two other people being taken to Alice Springs Hospital.
A hospital spokeswoman said a 20-year-old woman in ICU was in a stable condition and another man had been discharged from hospital.
Police said a critical incident investigation had begun and initially police believed the driver of one car dodged a police traffic stop, sped off and later crashed.
Police were attempting to pull over the driver for an unrelated traffic offence.
The three dead and the two injured people were all in the car that evaded police and sped off.
Police said officers did not pursue the car after the driver failed to pull over.
