THIS is a rallying call … a rallying call we are proudly putting out on behalf of the Territory’s tourism industry.
Never before has a Territory industry so important to our economy been in such dire straits. It has been decades since things have been this bad, despite the spin and propaganda fed to us by the Federal and Territory governments. More than 17,000 Territorians make up this industry and they are doing it damn tough.
Not since way back in the days of Crocodile Dundee in 1986 have we so desperately needed something to give our struggling tourism industry a burst of international attention; a fresh spark.
Yesterday a new, star-studded Crocodile Dundee-inspired TV commercial aired for a potential 110 million Super Bowl viewers in the US as part of a record $38 million Tourism Australia campaign targeting US travellers.
This is the spark desperately needed. Territory tourism operators and filmmakers are calling for a new Dundee movie to be made. The Crocodile Dundee movies are still rated among the best ever made in Australia. The comedy and classic Australian slang and language won the minds and imaginations of a generation of international adventure travellers. The character of Mick Dundee did more for the Territory than anything before or since.
We want to make it happen again and get #BringBackDundee trending around the globe. There are new generations of international travellers for Mick Dundee to lure to the Territory. The NT News has launched a petition on behalf of Crocodile Dundee lovers around the world for a new instalment of the famous movie series.
We want you to sign it. The Territory’s tourism industry wants you to sign it. They need you to sign it. Just imagine how much impact another Crocodile Dundee movie would have on tourism and the Territory economy. Sign now at ntnews.com.au
