IMMIGRANTS have helped build Darwin before and there is no reason why it can’t happen again.
The Top End is home to people from dozens of different cultural backgrounds who have all moved here to make better lives for themselves.
On the NT Government website there are 100 different cultural groups listed.
It is more evidence that the government’s migration plan to have new arrivals to Australia live in regional centres makes perfect sense.
The Territory needs people.

We need to bolster our population and we have an accepting community ready to help immigrants make the most of their fresh start in the north.
Spending their first five years in Darwin could be a long enough time to convince them to stay permanently.
The success of some of our own high-profile migrants is enough proof that Darwin is a place where anyone can succeed.
Our Mayor Kon Vatskalis, restaurateur Jimmy Shu, construction leader John Halikos and Crocodylus Park owner Giovanna Webb are all examples of how migrants have prospered, and brought prosperity to others, in the Top End.

The Territory has benefited in the past from the migrations of the Greek and Chinese communities in industry and with the amazing cuisine.
We could be in for the same positive influx of food and skills from African and Asian nations.
In 10 years Darwin could have more festivals like Glenti driven by our new arrivals.
