Many businesses and communities saw the pandemic as an opportunity to innovate and re-evaluate the old ways and to shake up the status quo.
The Beach Club concept is a perfect example of this.
And not only that, but it was incredibly successful and continued to be long after COVID shut downs were impacting Darwin businesses.
The Beach Club exemplifies everything that’s great about Darwin – lazing by the water on a sun lounger with a drink in hand in a picturesque location. What more could you ask for?
Which is why it’s such a blow to nearby businesses, tourism and locals that the Beach Club was shut down, especially now that the dry season is just around the corner.
Just like we have seen with the cutting of JobKeeper and Jobseeker payments, measures implemented during the COVID crisis can’t just be dumped once things start to improve.
Even once the whole country is vaccinated, the recovery from such a massive event – especially economically – is going to take years.

If something works, we should be thinking about how to enhance it, not cut it down.
