NEWS of the rising rate of Northern Territory children being immunised against potentially deadly diseases is encouraging, but it is critical we stay on this path.
The latest data from the NT Health Department’s 2019/2020 annual report indicates 95.5 per cent of kids aged one were fully immunised, while 91.5 per cent of two-year-olds were immunised.

The target rates outlined by health professionals were 95 per cent for one-year-olds, and 90 per cent for children aged two.
This is a remarkable effort made by health care providers in educating the public on vaccines, and ensuring enough dosages are available across the Territory.
It is also a great feat on behalf of families and carers to ensure they are safe. Immunising a child is not only for their own benefit, but for the entire community.
There are many vulnerable people in the Northern Territory, and the COVID-19 pandemic has shown how important it is to take every precaution to protect against deadly and preventable diseases.
