Events such as the Greek GleNTi, Graze, fun runs and Darwin Festival shows are a great way to entice people to make the most of the parkland as well as the amenities of the CBD.

The scooters have also provided a means for people to head down to the Esplanade where there are wide open paths to ride along. The Lameroo Baths and boardwalk concept would provide another attraction and reason for people to visit the space.
Take for example Eva’s Cafe in the George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens or the The Foreshore Restaurant & Cafe at Nightcliff or even De La Plage at Casuarina Beach.
The venues are always busy and provide a reason for people to head to the region’s green spaces to sit back and enjoy.
A rooftop bar or restaurant on top of one of the high rises on the Esplanade would provide a great attraction for residents and tourists alike to head to the Esplanade.
As industry leaders have said, caution needs to be taken to ensure established businesses are not impacted, and rightly so.

Darwin doesn’t need to see another much-loved hospitality venue close.
But with consultation of all relevant parties, the Esplanade can reach its full potential.
