DARWIN got a massive free plug for travel during the off-season this week.

Radio personality and former AFL player Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald spent a few days up here supporting the Wanderers NTFL club and, if his Instagram account is anything to go by, he enjoyed all the usual Territory delights.

Fitzy shared a photo of himself enjoying a beer in the pool with a typical Top End storm brewing in the background to his 123,000 followers.

Back in the Nova 96.9 studios in Sydney he was interviewing Simon Baker, one of the stars of High Ground, and the duo shared their Wet season experiences.

Baker attended the Darwin premiere of the film and was spotted at the Parap markets a couple of days later.

Both personalities agreed tourists shouldn’t be afraid of the Wet season and the “magnificent” storms.

Fitzy also marvelled on air about how no one in the Northern Territory utters the word COVID, “they’re just living their life!”.

And it’s not only the interstate travellers who are taking note during this wet season, many locals have stuck around town this season exploring their own backyard.

Territory Tourism Vouchers have also encouraged locals to travel more this wet season.

Enjoying a cold beer in the pool as a magnificent thunder storm rolls in is the perfect setting to forget about the rest of the world.
