NEW data showing there are more southerners than locals viewing Northern Territory properties online is a significant step towards potential population growth.
The Territory’s residential market – and in particular the Top End’s – has been in the national spotlight following last year’s Australia-wide Covid-19 lockdowns.
The speed and ferocity at which the market rebounded astounded property professionals in every corner of the country.
The Territory’s affordability and swift response to the coronavirus crisis made it one of the most attractive places to live and it appears we still have claim to this.
While it is positive people are seeing the Territory in a more favourable light, there is a fervent hope that this interest is not short-term.
The last thing the Territory needs is a sugar hit of population growth, only for people to ship off back down south.
The Territory needs commitment in order for it to grow and flourish.
We need young professionals to move, expand their careers, find love and nurture the next generation of Territory leaders.
We need the expertise of more mature residents and their eagerness to travel, seek adventure and spend within the Territory.
Current residents of the NT know how magical and exciting it is, now we need the rest of the country to experience it and be captivated to stay.
