DARWIN RSL’s clifftop clubhouse and cafe could become one of Darwin’s marquee venues when it’s built on the Esplanade, next to Bicentennial Park.

On a day where two more iconic venues were revealed to have closed their doors, the RSL released more information about the family friendly venue they want to bring to Darwin, showing promise for the future of the hospitality industry at a time when many businesses are in dire straits.

The clubhouse would make the most of the beautiful vistas the Esplanade is known for and such initiative and innovation should be supported.

Previously the RSL have said they would be willing to work with the Deckchair Cinema, along with any other opposers, to ensure the development is done with the community’s best interests at heart and as little disruption as possible is caused.

If this promise can be fulfilled there is no reason why the project shouldn’t go ahead and while green space is becoming more and more treasured, plans to revitalise State Square and bring shady gardens and a tropical tree walk should give greenies confidence of a bright and beautiful Darwin.

Like the Deckchair once did, the RSL’s new clifftop clubhouse, complete with a ground floor family friendly cafe, could put Darwin on the map for all the right reasons.

The Deckchair Cinema, along with other opposers could do worse than to open their eyes and work with those looking to make Darwin a better place.
