ANOTHER tribunal amendment from intentional to careless conduct has freed up St Mary’s utility Nick Yarran to play for St Mary’s in next week’s NTFL Grand Final.
Yarran’s original charge of rough conduct on Nightcliff opponent Brodie Filo in last Saturday’s second semi-final was downgraded to careless when Yarran contested the original charge of intentional conduct imposed by the league’s match review panel.
Yarran entered a plea of not guilty to the charge which was originally classified as intentional conduct, low impact and high contact.
After reviewing the second quarter footage and the evidence placed before them, the tribunal determined an alternative classification and amended the charge to be careless conduct with low impact and high contact.
In line with By-Law 3.8 (c) from the 2019 State and Territory Tribunal Guidelines, Yarran was able to enter an early guilty plea to the amended charge.
The tribunal then sanctioned him with a reprimand, meaning he can play for the Saints in the March 14 decider.
