The government’s plan to bolster the tourism sector has taken a new turn, with a big discount scheme now available.
On Thursday, the government announced the Territory’s Tourism Discount Scheme, which offers up to 25 per cent off hundreds of tourism and hospitality packages across all regions.
Tourism and Hospitality Minister Joel Bowden said the discount offered “something for everyone”.
“Now is a great time to book a unique Territory experience – whether that’s a fishing charter to try to catch a million dollar fish, a weekend getaway or take to the air on a heli-tour, the Territory Tourism Discount Scheme offers something for everyone,” he said.
“For many families the Easter break offers a great opportunity to holiday at home or venture a little further, so whether it’s a jumping croc tour or a visit to one of the Territory’s many holiday parks, Territorians can experience the best of the NT for less these school holidays.”
Discounts are available for bookings from 29 February to 30 April 2024 for travel beginning prior to 30 April 2024 on all transactions of up to $5,000.
Tourism Central Australia chief executive Danial Rochford welcomed the announcement.
“(We are) excited about the Territory Tourism Discount Scheme opening today and our local operators and tourism businesses are looking forward to seeing the bookings come through.”
Top End Tourism general manager Samantha Bennett said she hoped Territorians would “get behind” the sector.
“Today is an exciting day for Tourism Top End and our members,” she said.
“We’re thrilled to have partnered with the Territory government on this scheme and hope Territorians will get behind their local tourism operators and book a unique Territory experience.”
