NT News Woman of the Year Awards 2025: Nominations now open

Last year, the NT News crowned its inaugural Woman of the Year after the community came together to name a woman doing good, for the sake of the Territory. It’s time once again. NOMINATE NOW.

Nominations for the NT News Woman of the Year Awards 2025 are now open.

Powerful, kind, capable, independent, selfless, loving, brave.

These words and many more are all perfect to describe women.

Last year, the NT News crowned its inaugural Woman of the Year after a weeks-long nominations process in which the community came together to name a woman doing good, for the sake of the Territory and its people.

Now, we’re proud – and thrilled – to be doing it again.

Brought to you by Charles Darwin University, we’re putting the call out for the next round of women who are making their mark in the Territory in a range of areas.

Nominations open online on March 7, culminating in a special two-course lunch and awards event at Mindil Beach Casino Resort on May 9, 2025 – where the winners will be announced.

You are more than welcome to nominate yourself or a woman you know who deserves recognition.

There are 11 categories to choose from:

• Champions of Education - for women who are more than a teacher, who are passionate about education and the support of our youth (presented by Top End Group Training)
• Professionals - for the women at the top of their field working across all industries including resources, construction, finance, real estate, legal services or medical (presented by ISACNT)
• First Nations Women - recognising significant achievement made by First Nations women across all sectors of the community (presented by Glencore McArthur River Mine)
• Stars of Retail, Tourism and Hospitality - for women working across these integral fields who help keep our economy growing (presented by Mindil Beach Casino Resort)
• Angels Among Us - for the selfless women who devote time and energy to helping others for no attention or reward (presented by Power and Water Corporation)
• Champions of Sport - for the backbone of local sport dedicated to organising or volunteering, or simply achieving on the field or in play (presented by Bridge Toyota Darwin and Palmerston)
• Rising Star (under 25 years) - highlighting incredible young talent and championing our emerging leaders, this category is for those at the start of their careers, but are already leaders within their chosen field (sponsored by Australian Computer Society)
• Trades and Resources - women who are pushing boundaries in trades, construction and resource industries (presented by Newmont)
• STEM - these ladies are leading the way in their fields, making significant contributions across science, technology, engineering or mathematics (presented by NEC)
• People’s Choice - the NT community holds the power to determine this winner through their votes, making this a truly empowering opportunity for all to recognise and celebrate the exceptional individuals who are making a difference (presented by Santos)
• Woman of the Year - the highly prestigious NT News Woman of the Year Award for 2025 (presented by NT News and Charles Darwin University)

To nominate either yourself or another person, please follow the instructions on the form below.

Please ensure you read the criteria and requirements carefully so we can adequately consider your entry.

If you are nominating yourself or someone else who is under 18-years-old, please ensure you have the consent of their parent or guardian before doing so.

You must be a resident of the Northern Territory to take part.

Nominations close at 11.59pm ACST on March 31, 025.
