Car crash through Darwin bus stop

Darwin commuters were left shocked this morning after spotting a Toyota LandCruiser completely wrecked on the side of the road, missing all but one tyre, that had seemingly crashed through a bus stop.

A resident on their way to work in the CBD came across the scene on Philip St, Fannie Bay on Friday morning.

Police tape connected the vehicle to the bus stop, and broken glass and pieces of debris were strewn across the ground at the scene.

Among the wreckage also appeared to be Spider-Man stickers, which were spotted on the ground.

NT Police on Friday afternoon confirmed that the vehicle had been driven by a sole occupant who delivered a positive roadside breath test after the crash.

The man suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for medical care.

The police investigation is ongoing and there are no reports of anyone being injured who may have been at the bus stop at the time.

A spokesman for St Johns Ambulance said three people had to be treated following a separate two vehicle crash overnight.

That separate two car crash also led to a physical confrontation between the parties involved, the spokesman said.
