CHIEF Health Officer Hugh Heggie has removed the geographical areas of elevated COVID-19 alert for greater Brisbane and the Gold Coast for the purposes of travel to the NT.
The Gold Coast and greater Brisbane areas were put on elevated alert on Saturday after a recent outbreak in south Queensland.
It meant people who arrived in the NT from those regions over the past 14 days were asked to refrain from visiting remote communities, residential aged care and disability facilities.
However, from today people arriving to the NT from those locations are simply reminded to practice physical distancing and increased personal hygiene as per standard COVID-19 principles.
It comes after traditional owners at Uluru threatened to blockade the rock for a second time with a flight scheduled to arrive from Brisbane on Friday.
