It was a night to remember for former Premier Bob Carr on Tuesday, when the who’s-who of NSW Labor gathered to celebrate 30 years since the Carr government was elected in 1995.

Current Premier Chris Minns was joined by former Premiers, Ministers and staff to pay their respects to a man considered one of Labor’s greats.

Those who were there say that the evening was a reminder that governments can deliver on core services like health and education, while also spending big on delivering the “best Olympics” the world had seen.

Unleashed is told Minns – who desperately wants to model his Premiership on Carr’s – stole the show with his impersonation of the Labor elder.

We’re told there was also plenty of good-humoured digs poking fun at Carr’s quirks, including his hygiene habits and his penchant for steel cut oats.

Attendees had a chance to show off their niche knowledge of the former Premier in “Bob Carr Trivia”. We’re told long-time chief of staff Bruce Hawker took out the honours.
