Man charged with stabbing his brother at Guildford home

A man has been charged in relation to an alleged stabbing incident in Sydney’s west which led to the hospitalisation of him and his brother.

A man has been charged after three people were taken to hospital after a stabbing allegedly involving two brothers in western Sydney this afternoon.

About 1:15pm, a 46 year-old man was found by emergency services with a stab wound to his neck at a home on Rawson Rd, Guildford. 
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to Westmead Hospital with a police escort, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A second man, aged 47, was treated for head injuries and taken to Westmead Hospital for assessment.

It’s understood the two men are brothers and that the incident unfolded at the rear of the home.

Police attached to Cumberland Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following his release from hospital, the 47-year-old was taken to Granville Police Station, and charged with cause wounding/grievous bodily harm to person with intent to murder; contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic); and use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Monday.

A woman was also at the scene and taken to hospital for further observation. There is no suggestion she was involved in the incident and no charges have been laid.

Neighbours told The Daily Telegraph that the family has only moved into the house recently.

“They’ve just moved in not too long ago. Roughly a week ago,” one neighbour who did not wished to be named said.

Another neighbour heard screaming coming from outside around 1pm this afternoon.

“I heard this screaming coming from outside so I took a look and that’s when I saw the family like that,” they said, not wishing to provide a name.

“The police then came shortly after, then the paramedics too.”

Footage of the incident showed a distraught woman being comforted by three bystanders on the front stoop of the home — including one with large bloodstains on his shirt — before she was helped to her feet and led away as paramedics marched down the driveway of the home towards the back of the property.

Part of Rawson Rd was shut following the incident but reopened later on Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday evening, the home remained roped off with police tape as investigators surveyed the scene, with forensics officers arriving late in the afternoon.
Several bags of evidence were brought around from the back of the property and placed into a waiting police van.
