A man has died following a two-vehicle crash at an intersection on the outskirts of Bathurst.
A man has died following a two-vehicle crash at an intersection on the outskirts of Bathurst.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Mid Western Highway and McLennan Close, Robin Hill, about 3.10pm on Wednesday following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to Chifley Police District, Highway Patrol Macquarie Sector, and Police Rescue attended and found a truck and a ute had collided.
As a result of the crash, the truck caught fire, which spread to surrounding paddocks.
NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW attended and were able to extinguish the blaze.
The driver of the ute – a 55-year-old man – was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.
The driver of the truck – a 52-year-old man – was uninjured in the crash and was taken to Bathurst Hospital for mandatory testing.
Police have declared a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
