The bodies of two men are believed to have been decomposing in a Sydney home for several weeks before they were discovered by police on Thursday afternoon.
Police from Surry Hills Police Area Command were called to a home on Cleveland St, Surry Hills about 2pm, following a concern for welfare report.
Inside they found the body of one man in his 70s, before making their way upstairs where they discovered the body of a second man aged in his 80s.
Both men are believed to have died in the house at different times within the past month.
The identities of the men are yet to be confirmed due to the state of the bodies.
It’s understood the bodies did not have any obvious signs of injury and will undergo toxicology screenings.
Eleanor Barker, a 63-year-old woman who lives at the same house, has been spoken to by detectives.
Police said she is not suspected of any wrongdoing involved the deaths.
Neighbours said they saw Ms Baker regularly, including this week, but had not seen the men for “quite some time”.
The house where the trio lived is severely dilapidated, with the only obvious sign of the tragic incident a small strip of police tape across the gate.
As investigations continue, police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Surry Hills Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
