Five people charged over a violent brawl that erupted at an U7s football tournament in Sydney’s southwest have fronted court for the first time.
About 11.50am on Saturday, April 26, officers were called to Prospect View Park, Smithfield after reports of a brawl.
A viral video capturing the incident shows one woman pulled violently by her hair while appearing to grapple with another woman.
Several people, including spectators and club officials, reportedly attempted to break up the brawl before police arrived on scene.
In a statement, NSW Police said officers attending the incident separated the people involved.
A man and a woman sustained minor injuries and were assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
Police arrested five people who were taken to Fairfield Police Station, where two women – Farah A El Jamal, 38, and Jiji Salah, 31, and two men – Adel El-Jamal, 42, and Tiziano Liberati, 39, were charged with affray.
A 30-year-old man, Youssef Salah, was also charged with offensive conduct.
All five individuals were granted strict conditional bail.
They appeared at Fairfield Local Court on Wednesday where their matters were briefly mentioned.
Court documents allege Ms El Jamal and Ms Salah – who is also known as Jiji Kadric – both used unlawful violence towards each other.
It is further alleged Mr El-Jamal and Mr Liberati also joined the melee, using unlawful violence towards Ms Salah and a second person.
Ms El Jamal and Mr El-Jamal both pleaded not guilty to their charges, with their matters adjourned to July 9.
Ms Salah also pleaded not guilty with her matter adjourned to July 16.
Mr Salah and Mr Liberati are yet to enter pleas. Their matters were adjourned to June 4, and July 23 respectively.
