The mother of a Mid-North Coast teenager missing for more than two weeks has aired her heartbreak as she holds onto hope her son will return home for Christmas.
Jacob Partridge was last seen at about 11pm on December 6 at Emerald Beach, some 20km north of Coffs Harbour.
And despite a five-day extensive land, air and marine search – suspended on December 11 – there has been no sign of the then 17 year old.
Police said on Tuesday the investigation remains ongoing, and that officers were “regularly liaising with the family”.
Last week, Jacob’s grief-stricken mother Liza took to social media on Jacob’s 18th birthday.
“Happy 18th Jacob. You’re missing out on cake, presents and a beer at the pub,” she wrote on Facebook.
On Monday morning, she posted a photo with the caption: “In memory of all the loved ones who cannot be with us this holiday season.”
The young man’s disappearance has caused a widespread outpouring of heartache in the community, with a family friend saying they “wish Jacob would walk through the front door this Christmas”.
Melanie Richmond added: “Please if you have seen Jacob. This is my friend’s son. We would love to bring him home for Christmas.”
Kell Woods wrote: “I think of you every day, multiple times a day. My heart is breaking for you. I hope you get the best Christmas present ever and your baby comes home to you. Lots of love.”
Kylie Black added: “Please come home. Your family’s hearts are shattered. They all love you so much and just want you safe.”
Coffs-Clarence Police Acting Inspector Nick Dixon said Jacob and his family were “respected members of the community” and the tight-knit community were rallying around Jacob’s “completely broken-hearted family”.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Coffs Harbour Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
