Not much can go wrong if your name is Max King.
In the past few months he has helped get the Bulldogs up to the top of the table and he played a pivotal role for the Blues in the first two games of State of Origin.
On Sunday, things proved they will just keep getting better for him.
Celebrating his selection for NSW in the decider and son, Hercules first birthday, King and his wife Christy took to Instagram to share they are expecting their second child.
Expected for the end of 2025, King has revealed despite sharing the news of his first daughter with some friends, the couple decided to make the news more public for a completely different reason.
“My missus is kind of at that stage where she’s like ‘everyone’s going to think I’m getting fat’,” King told the Telegraph.
“It’s something to be excited about, but there’s a lot going on at the minute so, I think it’s keeping the head down for where life’s at for us right now, and something to be excited for, for the future.”
Locking in for Blues training, the 28-year-old enforcer was well out of his comfort zone last weekend, planning his son’s first birthday party.
The extravagant celebration included a jumping castle, photo wall and a lot of balloons.
And while King’s involvement was vital, the front-rower believes he spent more time complaining than preparing.
“It did take a lot of planning from my wife,” King said.
“Blew the budget out a little bit, but that’s what dads are for I guess.
“Dads are for complaining about the budget, and wives are for blowing the budget out.”
King will be absent from home until next Wednesday, as he prepares for the biggest game of his NRL career to this point.
But the Blues prop is hoping his string of very fortunate events flows into a NSW win next week.
“Everything that has been happening, it’s been surreal, this whole year’s been like that,” King said.
“These things could be all gone tomorrow and if they are, I’m just glad and grateful that I have got to experience it.
“Hopefully keep the highs rolling for next Wednesday.”
