Embattled independent MP Mark Latham exchanged graphic and sexually explicit WhatsApp messages with his then-partner while sitting in the parliamentary chamber, according to a bombshell log of text messages obtained by The Daily Telegraph.

The messages can be revealed after businesswoman Nathalie Matthews accused Mr Latham of shocking physical and sexual abuse, including forcing her into “degrading sexual acts”.

Mr Latham denies the allegations, labelling the claims “comically false and ridiculous” on Monday night.

In explosive court documents, Ms Matthews alleged Mr Latham “engaged in a sustained pattern of emotional, physical, sexual, psychological, and financial abuse” during their two-year relationship.

The abuse she alleged included Mr Latham “defecating on me before sex and refusing to let me wash, forcing degrading sexual acts, pressuring me to engage in sexual acts with others, (and) demanding I call him “master”.”

Ms Matthews also details claims of “physical violence”, including Mr Latham “pushing me against walls, forcing me out the door, throwing a plate at me during an argument, and driving at me with his vehicle, hitting me with the side mirror and causing a bruise”.

Ms Matthews also alleged Mr Latham engaged in “financial abuse,” including by “borrowing $20,000 on four occasions without prompt repayment”.

She made the allegations as part of an attempt to seek an apprehended violence order against Mr Latham.

It is understood NSW Police investigated the allegations provided to them by Ms Matthews, including evidence from her phone, and also sought the opinion of prosecutors, before all agreeing there was not enough evidence to take out an AVO against Mr Latham.

Mr Latham refused to discuss the allegations on Tuesday, saying they would be “handled by the court”.

Sources said the allegations related to sexual acts performed by Ms Matthews within the walls of parliament house, during the pair’s relationship relationship.

Mr Latham repeatedly sent graphic sexually-charged WhatsApp messages to Ms Matthews while he was in the parliamentary chamber, according to the text log obtained by the Telegraph.

In one exchange, Mr Latham sent explicit messages during parliamentary question time on February 20, asking Ms Matthews for explicit photos and sending her sexually-charged emojis.

In a later exchange, Mr Latham can be seen sitting in the chamber during a parliamentary debate while sending messages describing sex acts he wished to perform on Ms Matthews.

Multiple upper house MPs said it was grossly inappropriate for a politician to send sexually explicit messages while at work.

“People of NSW want politicians on the job, not sexting during the middle of parliament,” one said.

Another accused Mr Latham of “rank hypocrisy” by sexting while at work.

“(He’s) a guy that goes on and on about misuse of taxpayers money; the people of NSW aren’t paying him to sit in the chamber and sext,” the MP said.

In response, Mr Latham said the explicit messages did not impact his work.

He said Ms Matthews would send him photos when parliament was sitting, “seeking a response”.

He said he could not describe the images “due to an abundance of caution about the revenge porn laws”.

“I don’t think responding to a consensual partner on a private, intimate matter in any way has reduced my workload, which I would match up against any other member in the place,” he said.

He would not comment on Ms Matthews’ accusations which he had earlier denied.

“I have scores of documents to show that and will rely upon them to defend myself,” he said on X on Monday.

“As the old saying goes, Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned”.

Mr Latham said that he had not been contacted by NSW Police about the allegations.
