A man has been left in a critical condition following a serious electric scooter crash on Sydney’s northern beaches on Tuesday night.
Emergency services were called to May Rd in Dee Why at about 9:30pm after reports that a man had fallen from an e-scooter.
Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command arrived to find a man, believed to be in his 50s or 60s, suffering from traumatic injuries.
NSW Ambulance paramedics, assisted by the Toll Rescue Helicopter and a specialist medical team, worked to stabilise the man at the scene before placing him in an induced coma and transporting him by road to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
It is believed the man may have struck a pothole at speed, causing him to be thrown from the scooter and land heavily on the roadway.
Road resurfacing works were reportedly underway in the area at the time of the incident.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crash.
