Major traffic chaos unfolded on the M4 this morning after a collision between a car and a truck is causing significant delays for those heading eastbound, with two of the three lanes currently closed.
About 5.50am Thursday emergency services responded to a multi-vehicle crash along the M4 eastbound at Eastern Creek, between Wallgrove Rd and the M7 off ramp.
The collision involved a truck and three cars, with a 65-year-old female driver suffering injuries.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman at the scene before she was transported to Westmead Hospital in stable condition.
Fortunately, the truck driver, a 42-year-old man and the two other male drivers, aged 25 and 38, were unharmed in the crash.
NSW Ambulance personnel remain on-site as authorities work to clear the scene and ease the congestion.
Traffic is traffic queued back past Orchard Hills - a distance of 10km - and it’s expected to be slow-moving throughout the morning. Motorists are warned to allow for extra travel time.
Meanwhile, wild winds caused a crane at a construction site in Carlingford to lean dangerously, forcing the closure of Pennant Hills Rd between Marsden Rd and Evans Rd, leading to a slow start to Sydney drivers this morning.
The Carlingford Roads were closed as of Wednesday night and remain so as of Thursday morning.
