Racing trainer James Cummings and his wife Monica Barrera-Cummings are having another attempt at securing a modification to their previously approved development application for a pool room cabana at their Bellevue Hill home.
The proposal seeks to add a bar with sink, relocate the bathroom, as well as adding an additional 9sq m of floor space.
The proposal was initially rejected by Woollahra Council last July.
Jamie Bryant from Willow Tree Planning told the council that the proposed reconfiguration would have “no material effect” to the amenity of the couple’s neighbours.
It is proposed for the rear yard of their six-bedroom, six-bathroom residence which was briefly listed with $22m price hopes in 2023 after its $2.6m new build in 2022.
The couple and their two children moved to Bellevue Hill from Malabar in 2019.
Cummings has been Godolphin Australia’s head trainer in Australia since 2017, but this week it was announced he will need to launch his own venture, possibly out of the famous Leilani Lodge at Royal Randwick.
Godolphin Australia will instead spread its Australian team among a number of trainers from August 1.
