After a decade of welcoming anglers and travellers to the Mann River Caravan Park, the owners are ready for their next chapter.
Drawn by the lure of world-class bass fishing, husband and wife duo Curtis and Hope Parker, fell in love with the location and its outdoor lifestyle.
Nestled on the Gwydir Highway at Jackadgery, west of Grafton, the caravan park is not just a place to stay, but sits at the gateway to some of NSW’s best national parks including Washpool, Gibraltar Range, Nymboida and Ramornie.
It is also the last spot on the Gwydir Highway for country drivers to fill up on petrol for close to 170km, before adventuring into the wilderness or up to Glen Innes.
Over the years the couple have enjoyed being the hub for the travelling community and have equally relished the benefits of the lifestyle themselves.
“It’s a privilege to be on the Mann River to be able to go for a paddle, fish and camp for a few days and finish up in Buccarumbi and then paddle home — it’s just a great spot.
“90 per cent of the time the water is crystal clear and you can see 20 foot into it,” Mr Parker said.
Mr Parker has travelled Australia extensively and been a keen fisherman for 30 years and says the park’s location draws anglers for good reason.
“The whole entire river system above Copmanhurst — the Mann, the Clarence, the Nymboida, I’d say would be one of the best bass fishing in the country.”
Now after a decade of memories the couple are keen to downsize and offer the treasures of the property to other nature enthusiasts.
The sale, priced at $4m includes the caravan park, six cabins, a two bedroom river cottage, a three-bedroom house and a two bedroom shack, a pool, a service station, a bottle shop, water storage and license and so much more.
As for the Curtis’, they are ready to downsize but are deadset on remaining in Jackadgery and even returning to the caravan park as tourists one day.
