The feud between tennis rivals Bernard Tomic and Nick Kyrgios is heating up, with Tomic proposing the two sort out their differences face to face — and with their fists.

Bernard Tomic has challenged rival Nick Kyrgios to a battle in the boxing ring to put an end to their long running feud once and for all.

The outspoken professional tennis players have been engaged in a tit-for-tat for years, with Kyrgios most recently naming Tomic “the most hated athlete in Australia.”

Tomic, 29 has recently challenged Kyrgios, 27 to put an end to their ongoing row with a battle on the tennis court, however his enemy has refused.

So speaking to Saturday Confidential yesterday, Tomic upped the ante and has requested a boxing match to end their rivalry “once and for all.”

“I am so sick of all this trash talk,” Tomic said.

“I literally chopped this clown last time we played, and I think it is time for me to chop him again.

“He needs to wake up. The only thing he is number one for is having the biggest mouth.

“I know he won’t walk onto the tennis court with me because he is a bit too scared. Put your boxing gloves on, let’s get inside the ring and let’s sort this out as men. Let’s stop the trash talk.”

While neither are believed to have any experience in the boxing ring, Kyrgios has flagged his interest in the sport in the past.

Last year, Kyrgios, who recently took part in a celebrity basketball game, took to social media to tweet, “Idea.... Kyrgios vs which tennis player... boxing match? Let’s go,” he wrote.

It’s off the back of a recent upsurge in “celebrity bouts”.

So far we have seen former footballers Barry Hall and Sonny Bill Williams take to the ring, as well as ex NBA players including Lamar Odom and Russian internet sensation Hasbulla.

The new challenge from Tomic comes after he called for the pair to play a $2 million grudge match.

Tomic is currently ranked 418 in the world, while Kyrgios is ranked 76th.

However Tomic beat Kyrgios the one time they played one another at the 2019 Kooyong Classic.

“Let the public see who is better for once and for all,” Tomic recently said.

“I’ve beaten you easy before and I’ll do it again.

“Plus we’ll play on grass so you don’t make any excuses.”

Their ongoing stoush was reignited last weekend when a fan took to Instagram to claim Tomic was better in Kyrgios.

Kyrgios responded by saying, “Better in what way? I’ve got a higher career (ranking) More money, more wins and give back whenever I can.”

“It’s time for BT to just quiet down. He ain’t even playing anymore. I got years left.”

Tomic hit back, sharing a video to Instagram saying, “The only logical explanation is that I’m his idol. He’s always been in my shadow growing up.

“That’s why anytime someone mentioned my name to him, it gets under his skin.”
