Four young women injured in buggy crash at Gunn Point, two flown to Royal Darwin Hospital

One woman has been discharged from hospital after being injured in a buggy crash at Gunn Point Beach on Tuesday evening, where three other young women were also hospitalised.

UPDATE 12.25pm: THREE of four women, aged from 22 to 30, remain in hospital after a buggy crash at Gunn Point Beach early Tuesday evening.

A spokeswoman for St John Ambulance NT said a 26-year-old woman suffered a broken wrist amd a cut behind her ear, a 22-year-old had her earlobe partially severed and a cut on her neck while another 23-year-old woman suffered from pain on the left side of her body.

Two women were transported to hostpital via St John Ambulance and the other two were transported via Careflight.

UPDATE 10.15am: ONE woman has been discharged from hospital after being injured in a buggy crash at Gunn Point Beach on Tuesday evening, where three other women were also hospitalised.

A spokesman from NT Health confirmed the three women who remain in the Royal Darwin Hospital were in a stable condition.

“We cannot provide further details on injuries or treatment due to patient confidentiality,” he said.

UPDATE 7.50am: NORTHERN Territory police have said they are investigating a buggy crash at Gunn Point Beach where four women were injured overnight.

Senior Sergeant Siiri Tennosaar said police attended an incident around 6:20pm yesterday evening on Gunn Point Beach in which a buggy had rolled over.

“Four women, aged between 22 and 31, were injured in the rollover,” she said.

“Careflight conveyed two of the women to Royal Darwin Hospital, and two women were transported to RDH by St John Ambulance.

“Investigations into the incident are underway.”

UPDATE 7am: ONE woman injured in a “nasty” buggy crash at Gunn Point yesterday evening lost a part of an ear in the accident, while others have suffered broken bones.

St John Ambulance operations manager Craig Garraway told ABC Darwin the injured women “mainly came away with broken bones, as well as a number of cuts and bruises”.

“I think someone may have lost a part of an ear in all that,” he said.

EARLIER: FOUR women have been injured in a buggy crash at Gunn Point yesterday evening.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said two of the four women were flown by CareFlight to Royal Darwin Hospital last night while the other two were transported by St John Ambulance paramedics to hospital.

The spokeswoman said the four women had suspected spinal injuries.

It is not yet clear what the cause of the crash is.

The ages of the women are not yet known.

The crash was reported at 7.15pm and according to the Fire Incident Map was closed at 7.47pm.

Police have been contacted for comment.
