Land search crews locate missing 73-year-old man Tony Jabanardi Ellis after more than a week

Police have located a 73-year-old man after he was reported missing on Thursday in Alice Springs.

UPDATE: POLICE have located a 73-year-old man after he was reported missing on Thursday in Alice Springs.

Tony Jabanardi Ellis, who suffers a medical condition, was last seen at an Irretye Court home in Hidden Valley Town Camp about 4pm on Tuesday.

His family believed he had gone for a walk and reported him missing when he didn’t ­return.

He was found by land search crews in bushland 2.6km east of Hidden Valley Camp.

Mr Ellis was transported to the Alice Springs Hospital for assessment.

Senior Sergeant Michael Potts said information from the public assisted in narrowing the search area.

“We received information from a member of the public who was able to take police to the location where he saw the man,” Sergeant Potts said.

“As a result, this greatly ­assisted in reducing the search area and ultimately lead us to find the man sooner than later.”

On behalf of police, Sergeant Potts thanked Northern Territory Emergency Service members and volunteers for their assistance with the search and for contributing to the discovery of Mr Ellis.

EARLIER: Welfare concerns are in place after a 73-year-old man who suffers from a medical condition, has gone missing in Alice Springs.

Tony Jabanardi Ellis was last seen at an Irretye Court home in Hidden Valley Town Camp about 4pm Tuesday.

His family believed he had gone for a walk and reported him missing when he didn’t return.

Door knocks and an area search was conducted by police.

Mr Ellis is described as being of Aboriginal appearance, 170cms tall with a slim build, grey hair, and a grey beard.

He was last seen wearing a black long-sleeved shirt with white stripes down the side, black trousers, a light-blue jumper and black shoes.

Police urge anyone who may have seen Mr Ellis, to contact police immediately on 131 444.
