A WARRANT has been issued for an arrest over the shooting death of two buffaloes at a now-defunct buffalo dairy farm outside Darwin.
Top End Buffalo, a Riverine buffalo dairy farm, had their number one breeding bull and a top milking and breeding cow shot and killed in early July.
Pictures of Top End Buffalo owner Geoff Arthur “absolutely grief-stricken over the senseless shooting were posted to the Top End Buffalo Facebook page and shared across the networking site.
Police said this afternoon they had a “person of interest” who was supposed to have presented to a police station, but has not. A warrant has now been issued for their arrest.
The news comes just two days after a pet camel and donkey were shot with a compound bow on a remote Territory station.
Twinkles the beer-chugging camel and CC the donkey were both shot from “point-blank” barely an hour after they arrived on Banka Banka station, north of Tennant Creek.
Barkly Region Acting Superintendent Pauline Vicary said police were on the lookout for “a very dark — blue or black — late model four-wheel-drive” seen leaving the area.
