Activity from Mount Ili Lewotolok volcano on Lembata Island in Indonesia erupted overnight and forced thousands of people to flee their homes.
A geographical forecast for Area A1 from the Bureau of Meteorology – which includes Wadeye, Peppimenarti and Thamarrurr — suggests widespread volcanic ash from surface level to 10,000ft.

The volcano is still erupting, and some charts project ash could reach inland as far as Daly Waters and Top Springs. The charts, howeve, do not suggest the ash will reach Darwin.
