YOU weren’t dreaming if you heard the sound of rain in Darwin in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At Darwin Airport, 3.8mm was recorded in the 24 hours to 9am Saturday while the Nightcliff Pool and Marrara gauge both recorded 3mm.

The wet weather experienced this week was fleeting with Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Moses Raico explaining there was a surge of dry air coming up.

“Broadly speaking, to have rain like this across the Top End, it’s not common,” he said.

“Today we’re are going to see it transition back to what we normally expect this time of the year.

“We’ve got a dry south easterly surge pushing through.”
