TRADITIONAL owners say Uluru has been temporarily closed to visitors due to COVID-19 concerns after about 100 people arrived on a flight from Sydney at Yulara airport yesterday.

Health Minister Natasha Fyles said about 100 passengers had arrived on a flight from Sydney at Yulara on Sunday before a COVID-19 hotspot declaration for Greater Sydney, the NSW Central Coast, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra areas came in force at 3pm.

Minister Fyles said all arrivals had been directed to self-isolate, get tested and wait for their results.

“The park has been closed for the next 24 hours (until 10.30am Tuesday) until all those people have been tested or have left Yulara and there are no planes landing while Sydney is a declared hotspot,” she said.

“MCAC is urging community members to stay in community in the next 24 hours.”
