FORMER Top End Health boss Michael Kalimnios, who spearheaded planning and commissioning the Palmerston Regional Hospital, has died.
In a statement printed in the Albury-Wodonga’s Border Mail, the Border Medical Association paid tribute to Mr Kalimnios. He was working as the chief executive of Albury Wodonga Health.
Ms Kalimnios had previously worked as the chief operating officer of the Top End Health Service between 2015 and 2018.
In a statement, an NT Health spokesman said Mr Kalimnios was a “strategic, highly intelligent and personable leader”.
“He will be remembered not only for his collegial leadership, but also for his friendship, sense of humour, and caring nature.”
“So many of the initiatives NT Health has achieved can be attributed to the legacy of Michael’s achievements including the planning and commissioning of Palmerston Regional Hospital, the active engagement of NT Health’s Aboriginal workforce and staff forums.”
