Travellers in NT urged to get tested after three local cases in WA

NT Health has urged travellers from WA who’ve been to a number of locations, including three shopping centres and a mosque, to get tested. SEE THE FULL LIST.

Perth and Peel in lockdown limbo once again

NT Health has urged recent arrivals from Western Australia to get tested if they’ve visited a number of exposure sites in Greater Perth.

It comes after WA premier Mark McGowan revealed a hotel quarantine worker and two housemates tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.

Among the listed exposure sites are a mosque, three shopping centres and a cinema.

Acting chief health officer Dr Charles Pain said the situation was “still emerging” and was now directing anyone who visited the exposure sites from April 27 to get tested and self-isolate until they return a negative test.

“At this time we are taking all necessary precautions in regards to the COVID-19 exposure sites while we continue to monitor and assess the situation across WA,” Dr Pain said in a statement on Saturday night.

“The situation could change at any time and I urge everyone to continue to stay updated with the latest information, particularly those looking to undertake interstate travel,” he said.

Mr McGowan updated the media on Sunday, saying there had been no further cases reported.

Despite saying there was no need at present for a second lockdown, the WA premier has implemented new measures such as shutting down nightclubs and banning crowds at the AFL derby this weekend.
