FUEL has been spilt across the Carpentaria Hwy after a road train carrying diesel had its rear trailer flip and roll.
Senior Sergeant Richard Howie said the third unit of the three trailer road train had swung out of control, causing it to flip.
“There is going to be quite a bit of a clean-up and removal operation out there today and because it’s such a remote location it’s going to take some time,” Sgt Howie said.
“Sometimes they get a bit of a swing up and the last trailer acts like a bit of a whip causing the trailer to flip.”
Sgt Howie cautioned any motorists who planned to travel to Borroloola to be aware there might be some delays.
“It might only be for the morning but it could extend longer than that,” he said.
“There were no injuries or other vehicles involved and the truck itself didn’t roll.
Sgt Howie said the clean-up would be quite extensive.
“There is a number of specialists who are already out there from the Department of Primary Industries to get the vehicle off the road or the trailer,” he said.
