TOP End residents enjoyed a lightening show on Wednesday night during a final wet season burst before the start of the official dry season at the weekend.
After teasing dry spells over the past fortnight, the wet season is having its last hurrah this week with potential heavy rain in the east.
But the Bureau of Meteorology said showers are clearing from today.

Some locations saw more than 50mm of rain overnight, but most locations totals were less than 10mm.
“The Top End will start to dry out from Thursday as showers shrink to the north and stormy weather moves off into the Timor Sea and Arafura Sea,” the weather bureau said.
“However showers generated by gulf lines are still expected about the east coast of the Top End till the end of the week, but they’re unlikely to reach as far west as Darwin.”
