DARWIN’S dramatic tidal movements caught the owner of a boat high and dry today – literally.
NT News photographer Che Chorley captured this unusual picture of a cabin cruiser wedged between the pylons at the Darwin Waterfront this afternoon.
Just who the unlucky boat owner is we don’t yet know, but it is a feat few, if any, boat owners have achieved at Stokes Hill Wharf.
With spring tides it is not unusual to see boats in the harbour flat on the mud, but this incident was something out of the box, much to the curiosity of people enjoying the day in and around the harbour.

Low tide at 1.36am today was 0.94 metres.
It then reached 7.4 metres at 7.40am, with the harbour waters lapping at the edges of the Tiger Brennan Boulevard near Stuart Park.
At 1.53pm it had receded to just half a metre, which is when the NT News snapped the cabin cruiser high and dry.
Just after 8pm tonight the tide will jump seven metres to a high of 7.54 metres.
