Territorians find double-vaccinated people more attractive than those who dress nicely: New study

TERRITORIANS find double-vaccinated people more attractive than those who dress nicely, research has found.

The study of 1000 Australians, commissioned by Durex, also revealed Territorians were the most likely of any Australians to report a “non-existent” sex drive during lockdowns.

The findings add new urgency to the NT’s race to get vaccinated against the novel coronavirus before another lockdown strikes.

The NT government was unwilling to provide a direct response to the findings, but referred the Sunday Territorian to previous statements by Health Minister Natasha Fyles urging Territorians to get vaccinated.

The findings showed that 35 per cent of Territorians placed high importance on being double-vaccinated against Covid-19, versus only 13 per cent who said they valued being nicely dressed the most.

Approximately 34 per cent of Northern Territory participants reported a non-existent sex-drive during lockdowns, sharing a top bunk with South Australia.

The findings came as a shock to sex store chain Sexyland, which has two locations in the Top End.

The chain’s national sales and marketing manager Rebecca Grech said its Darwin stores saw a boom in sales during lockdowns.

Ms Grech said the company even introduced two-hour home deliveries in Darwin during lockdown.

“The stores actually do very well up there, and during lockdowns our stores do very well,” she said.

Ms Grech also said lockdowns and border shutdowns had forced many Territorians with partners interstate to get creative, with purchases of remotely controlled gadgets proving extremely popular in the NT.

Under the Northern Territory’s road map out of Covid-19, lockdowns will no longer apply to fully vaccinated individuals once 80 per cent of Territorians have received both jabs.

Instead, unvaccinated people will be “locked out” of certain activities during a Covid-19 outbreak, while vaccinated people will receive wider freedoms.

Critical workers and workers who directly interact with vulnerable people will be mandated to get the vaccination from early November.
