TERRITORIANS will be relied upon to dob in people entering the NT who have lied about travelling to a coronavirus hot spot once borders open on July 17.
On Friday, Chief Minister Michael Gunner announced people who arrive in the Territory and had recently travelled through coronavirus hot spots would need to quarantine for 14 days at a regional centre, at their own cost.

Concerns, however, were immediately raised at how the Territory Government would discern if people lied about travelling through hot spots.
At a press conference today, when asked what strategies would be used to weed out people lying about their whereabouts, Health Minister Natasha Fyles said one way or another people would be caught.

“People will dob someone in, they’ll ring up and provide that information or alternatively if someone was to become ill it will quickly become apparent where they’ve been,” she said.
“People will need to fill in that paperwork and it is a legal document and if they mislead or lie, then they will face the consequences.”
