Nightcliff Family Centre’s Irene Billias was named the Territory’s favourite child care educator in a hotly contested NT News online poll.

Mrs Billias has a long career in childhood education and has no plans to stop. “These kids are my passion,” she said. “Children are my life, otherwise I wouldn’t be here for 32 years.”
Mrs Billias said she strove in a firm but tender way to teach children manners and boundaries in a well-structured way. “Firm as I am, if they (kids) don’t see my car they say they don’t want to go to creche,” she laughed.

“I have been teaching them all beautiful manners and the feedback from parents is unreal.”
In a close second was Maria Baron from Goodstart Early Learning in Nightcliff, while Chelsea Fawcett at Moulden Early Learning Centre was third.
