DARWINITES are getting their geek on today for the Top End’s nerdiest festival.
GeeCon is Darwin’s biggest celebration of Japanese animation, comics and video games.
This year Ross Davidson is cosplaying as Shadow Cop. It took him about 10 hours to make his outfit.
He said more and more people each year were getting into the spirit of the event.
“All my friends are cosplaying this year, it’s pretty good to see that sort of thing expanding a bit,” he said.
“From my perspective, even libraries had cosplaying workshops so everyone was building towards it this year. It’s an event to look forward to.”
People can participate in games, attend voice actor panels and compete in cosplay competitions.
Mr Davidson said GeeCon helped connect people with a passion for anime, manga and games.
“There’s a bit of an underground geek culture in Darwin,” he said.
“It’s very hard to find another nerd.”
GeeCon begins starts today at 10am until midnight at the Darwin Entertainment Centre.
