Sydney’s lockdown could last for ‘around eight weeks’: Epidemiologist

THE Territory will stay open to regional NSW for now despite the state’s burgeoning Covid-19 crisis.

Victoria has already closed its northern border after NSW recorded another 77 new locally acquired cases on Sunday.

But at a press conference on Monday morning, Chief Minister Michael Gunner said Territorians could still return home from non-hot spots outside Sydney.

Mr Gunner also reminded businesses and individuals that checking in was now mandatory at all places, no matter how long people are there.

That includes construction sites, education institutions, outdoor markets and sporting or training facilities.

All businesses and other organisations must use the Territory Check In app, even if a pen and paper system is also available.

“It has become common practice for Territorians to check in as they go about their daily lives and we need to keep up this behaviour,” he said.

“This is about adding another layer of protection and making sure our contact tracers can access the right information as quickly as possible in the event they need to.”
