THE Katherine branch of Territory Alliance will convene a community meeting on Wednesday night to find a candidate the party says, as the “forgotten town” remains uncontested 10 weeks from the election.

Territory Alliance’s Katherine man on the ground Daniel Kelly said the meeting will be used to explain the fledgling party’s ethos to the wider community and help source a candidate to run.

Katherine, currently held by retiring Labor MP Sandra Nelson, has only one candidate so far in CLP’s Jo Hersey.

The meeting will kick off at the Katherine RSL at 5pm on Wednesday.

Mr Kelly said he had gotten in touch with party leader Terry Mills a few weeks ago concerned Katherine was not being properly represented and had been left behind.

“Basically the meeting will explain more about what Territory Alliance is,” Mr Kelly said.

“We are expecting a large attendance but hopefully not anything more than 100.”
