Territorians ready for fun in the sun, as the Dry arrives

It’s going to be unseasonably warm for the next few months, but that hasn't stopped many from enjoying our glorious change in the weather.

IT’S time for fun in the sun, with the dry season well and truly here.

Among those getting out and about was Hayley Jarvis, who was jumping for joy to see the back of the wet season.

Ms Jarvis, pictured above taking a dip at Lake Alexander, said she the weather conditions were perfect.

It comes as the Bureau of Meteorology officially declares the Dry has arrived.

BOM senior meteorologist Billy Lynch said the Top End had seen a marked change in the weather in recent days.

“Over the weekend we’ve seen humidity levels fall to around 30 per cent in the afternoon around Darwin and Katherine,” Mr Lynch said.

“That would be a pretty typical expectation for May,” he said.

“We’ve also got during the evening a sea breeze come in.”

Mr Lynch however said Central Australia was experiencing unseasonably warm conditions.

“It is warmer than average for the start of the week, so for Monday we’re expecting 30C,” he said.

“The average for May is 23C.”
