Territorians encouraged to hurry to squeeze in a last dip at Berry Springs

It’s your last chance to take a dip in the lush waters of Berry Springs.

IF you haven’t already, now is the time to dip your toes into the Berry Springs waterhole before it wraps up for another season.

Water quality levels are being monitored daily so a rise in bacteria levels will trigger a snap closure for public safety.

Darwin Urban Parks acting district manager Louise Kean said once wet season started, bacteria would be pushed from surrounding soils into creek systems. “Hot conditions and flowing water is a perfect environment for bacteria to flourish,” she said.

“Once the pools are closed for swimming, we put a temporary fence around the water access points to advise people not to swim because of bacteria and crocs.”

Ms Kean said anyone who had not yet visited the beautiful and refreshing Berry Springs this season needed to get in quick because this weekend could “potentially” be the last.

“If people want to swim, we suggest they get in sooner rather than later,” she said.

“Spring into action to avoid disappointment.”
