THE Bureau of Meteorology Facebook page was blocked by the social media giant’s changes to news sharing this morning in a move that would have adversely affected Territorians’ ability to access emergency updates and information in the middle of the Top End cyclone season.
BOM NT’s Facebook page was restored at 12.30pm.
Facebook attracted widespread condemnation today after blocking the pages of numerous state and territory health authorities, emergency services and the Bureau of Meteorology.
In a statement issued this morning, BOM confirmed its social media had been affected.
“The Bureau of Meteorology’s Facebook page has been impacted by the broader Facebook changes,” it read.
