LAURIE Kenafake, 59, has had a roller coaster of a week.

The grandmother had to put her cat down on Tuesday due to illness and on Friday she found out she had won the Sunday Terra’s bingo competition.

She took home a whopping $45,500 — the largest jackpot we’ve ever given away.

Mrs Kenafake had a stressful few days with mounting financial and vet bills, but all that has been wiped away thanks to her lucky numbers.

“Financially I’m not in a very good position, so that’s what I’ll be doing; I’ll be paying off things that I owe,” she said.

“I’ll be able to take care of all that and I might have enough left over for a new car.

“It does take a lot of pressure off me now.”

The Ludmilla resident said her lucky numbers are the birthdates of herself, her husband, son and granddaughter. Bursting into tears of joy when she found out the news Mrs Kenafake almost didn’t put in her entries to the bingo competition.

“I was quite seriously thinking, ‘I won’t worry about it this week’, cause I know how good I am at winning things — not,” she said.

Mrs Kenafake said she had played every week since the beginning of 2015 and puts in four entries each time.

She said she would continue to play each week.

The Sunday Territorian has put $15,000 in the pot to start the next jackpot, in the hope it will ultimately help someone as deserving as Ms Kenafake.
