THERE are 14 Territory government principal jobs currently on offer, including an executive contract worth more than $220,000.

The NT government is searching for 14 principals and teaching principals for schools across the Territory, with a mix of permanent and contract positions available.

The smallest renumeration package is worth $137,155, including a salary of $119,239 for a teaching principal at Mataranka School.

The largest renumeration package is a level-five, fixed executive contract for a principal at Palmerston College, worth $227,285.

Centralian Senior College is also searching for a principal, with a level-four, fixed executive contract offering a renumeration package of $215,529.

Other schools looking for new principals include Stuart Park Primary, Nemarluk School, Berry Springs Primary, Jingili Primary and Epenarra School 540km outside of Alice Springs.

A Department of Education spokeswoman said principal recruitment for semester two was consistent with previous years.

“There are various reasons for staff movement, including retirement, relocation, maternity leave and promotions to other positions,” she said.

The spokeswoman said the department was eager to welcome new recruits to Territory schools.

“The Department of Education values the vital leadership role that principals play in our schools,” she said.

“They promote the value of education, their schools and its role within the wider community and play a crucial part in developing young Territorians to achieve.”

In July, the NT News reported stakeholders were negotiating with the NT government to scrap executive principal contracts and introduce permanent contracts for principals.
