Second round of $1000 small business grants released to help closed industries
Thousands of NT businesses which have applied for government assistance have been extended an extra lifeline amid lingering restrictions following the Top End’s Covid-19 scare.

MORE government support has been promised for small businesses hit by the Northern Territory’s snap Covid-19 lockdown and restrictions.
The first round of the Business Lockdown Payments gave businesses with under 20 full time equivalent staff and turnover of more than $75,000 a lump $1000 payment.

Small Business Minister Paul Kirby said on Thursday more than 2650 businesses had applied for assistance, with over $1m being handed out by the NT government.
“We’re really happy to announce that from 9am Tomorrow morning businesses that have been locked down for the second week, are able to where to get that extra $1,000 payments,” Mr Kirby said.
Parap Village Traders Association manager Kylie McCourt said she expected the extra payments to be well received by stall holders at the popular Saturday event.
“It’s very welcome news for us,” Ms McCourt said.
“We are hoping this weekend we can conduct the markets with new regulations, particularly the check in codes, and we’ll be asking out visitors to adhere to government regulations.”
